How long have you been a Hypnotherapist?
I first studied Hypnotherapy in Sydney completing a Degree of Clinical Hypnosis in 1990. I then went on to complete a Post Graduate Degree in Hypnotherapy in 1991. I studied Advanced Clinical Hypnotherapy in 1992. More recently I completed a Diploma of Modern Psychology that has enabled me to add NLP and life coaching to the skills I am able to offer clients in my private practise.
To answer the original question that adds up to 25 years of experience in this field of modalities.
What is involved in the session?
Initially we gather information to gain insight into what is happening for you based on ‘”what it is you want more of rather than what you don’t want”. Hypnosis is not a magic cure and it takes commitment from you to do the work so I can assist you in making changes that will support long-term goals. The change work and techniques I use are based on the initial assessment
and what I feel will best support you to get to where you want to be.
How many sessions will I need?
Every one is different in how they respond to the sessions. Research studies have revealed that there is a 93% Recovery rate after 6 sessions. I recommend a minimum of 3 sessions then we review your progress and review if further work is necessary.
What will happen to me once I’m hypnotised?
In Hypnosis you are always in control. Hypnosis cannot make you do anything against your value systems. Clients have related their fears as they have been to see a stage hypnotherapist and feel they may respond in a peculiar way post the session. Hypnosis used in a clinical setting is very different and focuses on creating heightened states of awareness that allows communication to occur at a subconscious level. This enables change to occur by re-programming patterns within the mind that promote positive development and healing. When you enter the state of Hypnosis the critical faculty of your conscious mind is bypassed which allows new information and resources in with non-critical evaluation. At the end of the session you are de-hypnotised, awake and ready to integrate new resources beliefs and change.
How do I go about booking a session?
You just need to call and book an appointment on (02) 6680 2630. If I don’t answer the phone leave a message and I will call you back to arrange a time that suits you.
You can also contact me via email.
Do I need a doctor’s referral?
If you are coming for a session looking for support with medical conditions or mental illness, including severe anxiety and depression you must first discuss this with your GP or treating specialist and have a medical clearance and referral.
